Third UM BioPark building on the way

Baltimore Business Journal - by Sue Schultz Staff

Wexford Science + Technology, a Baltimore-based developer, outlined its plans Monday to develop a third office building at UM (University of Maryland) BioPark in West Baltimore.

With 180,000 square feet, the building on West Baltimore Street will join an existing 360,000 square feet spread across two buildings also developed by Wexford.

UM BioPark officials plan to break ground on the third building in March and complete construction by summer 2009. Officials aim to open 10 life science buildings in the park.

The park's first building and parking garage opened in October 2005. Tenants in the first building include biotech and life science companies Alba Therapeutics, a UM spinoff company, and FASgen, which was developed out of research from Johns Hopkins University.

The development's second building is slated to open in early 2008.
