Wexford Science & Technology, a division of Wexford Equities LLC of Hanover, plans to construct the third building of the BioPark at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. The company has signed a letter of intent with the nonprofit University of Maryland Health Sciences Research Park Corp. to develop the building, slated for groundbreaking on March 20. The $300 million BioPark is projected to comprise 10 life sciences buildings on 1.2 million square feet and is already home to a mix of university and company researchers and entrepreneurs in its first two buildings. ‘‘Wexford consistently raises the bar for its quality work and commitment to its projects,” said Jane Shaab, vice president of University of Maryland Health Sciences Research Park Corp., in a statement. ‘‘We are reassured that construction of Building 3 will run smoothly, based on the professionalism and quality we have seen during the completion of the second building and their role in the first building.” The six-story Building 2 is leasing space as the interior reaches completion and build-outs for signed tenants begin. It is expected to open early next year.
