Research Park to Create Jobs

The Daily Record

The University of Maryland Health Sciences Research Park, which University officials say could start to be developed by the fall of 2003, would create 3000 jobs, according to a study commissioned by Empower Baltimore Management Corp. Jane Shaab, director of business development in the Office of Research and Development, says that the park will be modeled after a larger research park at the University of Pennsylvania. "We like the Penn model because it's a successful university research park with a good track record of neighborhood development. They went building by building and that's what we'll be doing," Shaab says.
