Baltimore Business Journal: Illumina set to train hundreds of employees at new Baltimore office

Illumina Inc. has begun training groups of employees at its new 13,000-square-foot office and lab space in the University of Maryland, Baltimore's BioPark.

The California-based, publicly traded biotechnology firm announced in July it would be moving into the BioPark. Illumina (NASDAQ: ILMN) took space in the building at 801 W. Baltimore St. The site is owned by Ventas Inc., a life sciences real estate investment trust, and is part of a larger development managed by Wexford Science + Technology.

The office is Illumina's first commercial location for sales, service and support on the East Coast, said Paul Boyce, director of national service and support at Illumina. The newly renovated lab and office space will house its new Illumina Solutions Center facility, and will be used to provide training labs and office space for hundreds of employees and customers. Illumina is a life science tools developer and manufacturer. The company employs more than 7,000 people globally, and had revenue of $3.3 billion in 2018.
