About the Grid
The Center for Maryland Advanced Ventures and with the University of Maryland Graduate School worked in partnership to create the Grid, a 6,000 square foot innovation space where innovative companies, graduate students, entrepreneurs, faculty, and staff connect to bring innovative health and social impact ideas to life.
Here, members of the UMB community mix with early stage companies including university startups, get help from UM Ventures staff working to launch new companies, and engage with on-site experts, including UMB entrepreneurs in residence, advisors with the Maryland Small Business Development Center, and faculty and students working in the University of Maryland School of Law’s Business and Intellectual Property Law Clinic.
The space is home to educational opportunities such as workshops, office hours, and programs and a degree program in health and social innovation, whose students will be able to concentrate in areas like life sciences, user experience, or science communication.
The Grid is co-located in the UMB BioPark, one block south on Poppleton at Hollins Street.
