Founder City: Med Device Innovation in Maryland

Betamore and FITCI
Zoom

12:00pm to 1:00pm

The life science sector is booming in Maryland. Innovations developed at the state’s leading universities, like University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), University of Maryland College Park, and Johns Hopkins University, are pushing scientific discoveries to market faster than ever. UMB alone has spun out 40 startup companies in the last five years, the majority of which are based in Maryland. An abundance of resources, proximity to federal agencies, and a high concentration of leading life science firms make Maryland an ideal location, but talented entrepreneurs are driving the commercialization success.

Two dynamic, Baltimore-based medical device entrepreneurs will share their experiences around advancing science, successfully raising capital, navigating regulatory compliance and approval, and more. An expert on biotech from the Maryland Department of Commerce will join to highlight state initiatives that are intentionally driving growth in biohealth and the life sciences.

Moderated by Jim Hughes (Senior Vice President and Chief Enterprise and Economic Development Officer- University of Maryland, Baltimore) and sponsored by UM BioPark.
