Search committee forms to find next University of Maryland, Baltimore president

Baltimore Business Journal - by Julekha Dash Staff

Dr. David Ramsay is stepping down as president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

The University System of Maryland has appointed a search committee composed of faculty members and administrators to succeed University of Maryland, Baltimore President Dr. David J. Ramsay.

USM officials said they hope to find Ramsay’s replacement within 10 months. Known for launching the ambitious UMBioPark, Ramsay, 70, said in June that he would step down.

The 13-member search committee includes University of Maryland School of Nursing Dean Janet Allan, pharmacy school dean Natalie Eddington, University of Maryland Medical System CEO Robert Chrencik and University of Maryland Vice President for Research and Development James Hughes.

The new leader would oversee more expansion at the UM BioPark. Leaders told the Baltimore Business Journal last month that the UM BioPark is enlarging its footprint, with plans to add three 10- to 14-story office towers.
