About

Invested in West Baltimore

Partnership with our neighbors is a core tenet of the BioPark.

When the BioPark was created, it extended the University of Maryland, Baltimore’s (UMB) campus west across Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. This wide, busy thoroughfare effectively isolated the West Baltimore neighborhoods bordering UMB from its campus and downtown Baltimore. The BioPark provided an opportunity to bring economic investment to these neighborhoods and to deliver meaningful programs and services to residents.

Today, the BioPark fosters its community development mission by working with residents and neighborhood organizations to strengthen and revitalize West Baltimore communities while embracing their rich history and diversity. We complement these collaborations by bringing services, workforce training and educational programs, and outreach opportunities into our spaces, making valuable resources easily accessible to residents.
