17th Annual International Meeting of the Institute of Human Virology
Highlights of the 2015 meeting include sessions on Mechanisms of Viral Latency and recent advances in Understanding the Barriers to an HIV cure. The session on Global Virus Threats: Translation of Basic Science to Public Health Practice includes the Reinhard Kurth Memorial Lecture, this year given by Nobel Laureate Harald zur Hausen. The IHV Lifetime Achievement Award for Public Service is given this year to Dr. Anthony Fauci, and a special symposium features presentations not only by Dr. Fauci but leading scientists from the myriad disciplines that Dr. Fauci has impacted. Included is a cutting edge presentation on the latest in Ebola virus basic and translational research. Other sessions focus on Structural Biology, Immunology and Vaccines, the Role of Viral Gene Products in Pathogenesis, Molecular Epidemiology of HIV and Cancer and HIV Co morbidities and advances in Hepatitis C. Building on last year’s success this year’s meeting invites the next generation of scientists to submit research abstracts for podium and poster presentation and integrates their presentations into each thematic session to promote the kind of scientific dialogue and exchange that distinguishes the IHV Annual Meeting.
