Guerilla PR: Get the Press to Work for You!
See a competitor on the nightly news and wonder, how’d they do that?! It’s easier than you think. Media attention can represent hundreds of thousands of dollars in advertising value for your startup, and millions of potential new customers. But before you go spending six figures on a PR firm, take note! There are tried-and-true ways that you can capture the media’s attention for free.
In this class, we’ll learn three easy ways to craft a press release that captures the media’s attention. (Hint: it’s never only about your product!) You’ll learn two key items to include in the release that will make it 10x more likely to get picked up; the one thing not to do in this information age (it involves a telephone); and we’ll identify ‘guerilla’ ways to use Kickstarter and Twitter to craft a distribution list so you don’t waste money using overpriced distribution tools. Participants will leave the class with their own tailored press release they can distribute to the media.
