Baltimore Business Journal: Wexford Science + Technology to break ground on first phase of $320M UMd. BioPark project

An eight-story lab tower will break ground in the coming month in West Baltimore as part of a long-planned expansion to the University of Maryland BioPark.

Wexford Science + Technology is developing the 250,000-square-foot 4 MLK tower as a way to expand its footprint at the 14-acre bio park. The building will include 160,000-square feet of wet lab space, 40,000 square feet for flexible lab, office and lab support facilities and 16,000 square feet for community gathering and events. A new pocket park and plaza will serve as the entry to the tower and a former city firehouse next door to the site will be converted into a restaurant space.
